OK folks, we have asked you to speak out and oppose horrible bills when they come up and here is one which must be opposed immediately. First, let us ask you a question: Are you sick of our politicians coming up with new schemes to tax the crap out of you at every turn?

This is a new bill being presented here in California which will dramatically impact all mining claim owners, clubs and associations in California. The bill, SB 2 is presented by 11 Senators, (all Democrat) and would raise annual costs of mining claim owners by astronomical amounts.

This bill will raise the county recording costs to a minimum of $75 per claim to a max of $225.00 per item recorded for all real estate recording transactions. For example, in Inyo county the cost is currently $7.00 and this bill raises that cost to $225.00 per claim for a 3 page document (mining claim document).

From $7.00 to $225.00, let that sink in.

Each year, if you are a mining claim owner (the owner of real property real estate), you are required to record your mining claim documents in each county and send those recorded copies to BLM. AMRA averages a little over $1,000 per year to record these documents. Our cost would go up to over $10,000.00 per year and beyond to record our documents under this bill. Coarse Gold, UPI, GPAA, Delta, East Bay, Central Valley, Mother Lode Gold Hounds, Central Coast Prospectors……and so on would experience costs of astronomical numbers under this bill. Independent miners would see their costs skyrocket.

Here is an excerpt from the bill, labeled the Building Homes and Jobs Act:

“The bill would make legislative findings and declarations relating to the need for establishing permanent, ongoing sources of funding dedicated to affordable housing development. The bill would impose a fee, except as provided, of $75 to be paid at the time of the recording of every real estate instrument, paper, or notice required or permitted by law to be recorded, per each single transaction per single parcel of real property, not to exceed $225”.

This is a bad bill and we encourage you to oppose this bill by calling your Senator today and telling them to vote no. Find your Senator from the link below and please call them, send them an email or letter.
